About Me
Kassy Coates,
M.A. Counselling Psychology,
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).
As a skilled Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I can assert my competence based on over ten years worth of experience aiding people from diverse backgrounds and stages of development. Through the years, I have worked across different settings like mental health clinics, group homes, schools, employment agencies, and social services, honing my ability to aid both adults and youth.
Education
From Loyalist College, I earned a diploma in Community and Justice Service Work; a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice, awarded by Ontario Tech University, with a specialty in Youth, Crime and Violence, coupled with a minor in Forensic Psychology. In addition, I proudly hold a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, distinguishedly awarded by Yorkville University.
My Approach to Psychotherapy
Through the use of customized therapeutic approaches that draw from a variety of techniques, including CBT, IFS, Solution-focused therapy, and DBT, I strive to give each of my clients the best possible care. To ensure that trauma-responsive initiatives are effective, I create safe and comforting environments where my clients can explore their deepest emotions and thoughts without trepidation. Clients strive towards achieving mental well-being by wholeheartedly accepting their true selves and gaining control over their emotions while confronting any traumatic experiences that they may have endured.
